From the foreword: “Flight into Oblivion tells the story of a dramatic episode of the Confederacy – the adventures of its civilian leaders as, in April 1865, they fled south from Richmond in an effort to elude the Unionist pursuers bent on their capture and punishment. Only two, after a dash of almost 2,000 miles, succeeded in escaping capture.” Previously copyrighted in 1938 and 1959 by Barnes and Noble, this edition was reprinted in 1959 as part of the Civil War Centennial Series from Indiana University Press.
